Accessibility statement

Demo project “Lauter Frauen” is committed to making this website accessible. It follows the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA and the European standard EN 301 549.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with these requirements. The limitations are listed below.

Non-accessible content

  • Easy-to-read German (Leichte Sprache): information in Leichte Sprache is not offered at the moment.

  • Life stories: the texts are automatically imported extracts from Wikipedia. Words and quotations in other languages are not marked up as such, so screen readers may pronounce them as English.

  • Image descriptions: portraits have an alternative text with the person's name, but no detailed description of the picture.

  • Sign language: information in German Sign Language is not offered at the moment.

  • Mosaic: The mosaic is a picture of portraits in staggered rows, with fixed edges. It can be fully used with the keyboard (arrow keys move between portraits, plus and minus zoom), without swiping. Screen readers read all people as a list of links, but the spatial arrangement is not conveyed. The list view contains the same people and is the recommended way with a screen reader. The start page and the mosaic point this out.

Preparation of this statement

This statement was prepared on October 21, 2026. It is based on a self-assessment using automated checks (axe-core on all pages and states, in light and dark mode, on desktop, Android and iOS) and manual checks of keyboard use, zoom and contrast.
